ROAD TRIP THIS FRIDAY
We’ll convene at Chaddock (205 South 24th Street – please see campus details located on line – thanks to Courtney Hageman) this Friday to learn about a Quincy’s treasure. Here is a tidbit from their website: “Licensed, Accredited and nationally respected, Chaddock was founded as a ministry of the United Methodist Church in 1853 and has a legacy of more than 150 years serving children. Today, the Chaddock team includes in excess of 175 highly trained employees who serve thousands of children and families every year through foster care and a full range of preventative, educational, and treatment services.” Join us Friday AT CHADDOCK to learn more.

FRIDAY LAST
Our 44th Annual Law Enforcement Day and one of the best ever! Congratulations to our Citizens Crime Prevention Award recipient, John Slater, and the Law Officer of the year Award recipient, Missouri State Highway Patrol Corporal Timmy Shoop. Mr. Slater was recognized for his volunteer efforts with the Quincy Police Department since November, 2001 while Corporal Shoop was recognized for his valiant efforts to save a life in May, 2009. Both were humbled by their respective awards. After the award presentations we were treated to a GREAT performance by David Browning, a Barney Fife impersonator. David/Barney told some great stories and made us laugh, laugh, and then laugh some more. If you missed it, I am sorry for you. Our sincere thanks to Sheriff Brent Fischer and Chief Rob Copley for their efforts in putting the great event together.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“That rehab really did Otis good. Don’t you think?” Barney Fife impersonator David Browning pointing out the resemblance of a cleaned up Otis from the Andy Griffith Show and Judge Mark Drummond. Funny stuff!
THIS & THAT
The Quincy Police Department Honor Guard posting and later retiring colors and Rev. Orville Jones offering the invocation and benediction for the Law Day Program… Not a lot of the “normal business” last week but we did do the second and final reading on Don Hilgenbrink sponsored by Kirk Frageman. I believe Don and Travis Brown (sponsored by John Johannes) are both scheduled to be inducted on March 5th… An appropriate moment of silence during the program for Gil Feld and two recently deceased local sheriffs (Virgil Duesterhaus and Mike Lord)… Law enforcement officers abound last week. Maybe 50 or so? Not only local but U.S. Attorney’s Office and Secret Service as well… Terry Lucas is the Law Enforcement Coordinator for the U.S. Attorney’s Office and one of my past commanders in the Illinois Army National Guard. Terry spent time in Iraq as part of the detail guarding Saddam Hussein prior to his execution. Good man and always good to see him… I remember when President Kevin Curran was nervous in front of the crowd. If he was nervous last week, he didn’t show it. Good job, Kevin… As Barney Fife impersonator David Browning pointed out, the Andy Griffith Show has been on television somewhere everyday for the last 50 years. Pretty wild to think about… Gentleman, I try not to use the Exchangite for personal witness (outside of an occasional shaved ice plug) but please allow me to humbly tell you how much fun I have had the last several months watching my two oldest daughters play basketball together at Quincy Notre Dame. A trip to the IHSA State Finals this week in Bloomington is icing on the cake. I have much to be thankful for. Is two more wins that much to ask… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
