February 19, 2010
THIS FRIDAY
Our 44th Annual Law Enforcement Day. We’ll recognize our Citizens Crime Prevention recipient before presenting the Law Officer of the year Award. After these two prestigious awards, David Browning will finish out the program for us. David is a Barney Fifer (as in Andy Griffith Show) personator. Should be a great time and a nice break from a traditional speaker. Please don’t let the large crowd keep you away – we want you to share in this special day.
FRIDAY LAST
Quincy Mayor and fellow Exchangite John Spring delivered his fifth “State of the City” to the Club. Mayor Spring, with the key members of his administration in attendance, spoke of the unprecedented economic challenges facing the city, state, and country. He spoke in detail about the 2010 Census and the direct impact those numbers have on federal funding. We thank Mayor Spring for sharing his thoughts on the accomplishments of 2009 and the opportunities he sees in 2010. As previously stated, it is an honor to host this event each year.
YOUTH OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to Tyler Green, our February Youth of the Month. Tyler, of course, is the son of Exchangite Steve Green and his wife, Jean. Tyler is ranked #1 in class of 100 with a 4.00 GPA and has scored a 27 on the ACT. He has participated in student Council, soccer, basketball, Catholic Heart Work Camp, Spanish Club, the school newspaper, and the Art Club to mention a few. How about this - Tyler has been a Gus Macker volunteer since the age of five! He plans on continuing his education at St. Louis University where he has already been accepted into the School of Physical Therapy. Congratulations, Tyler!

Sorry I had to miss… I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, that Gary Peters just cracks me up! He, along with several others, make our Fridays fun. I thank all of them for that… No 50/50 drawing or tail twister last week, or this week for that matter, but both will more than likely resume the following week… Speaking of the following week, On February 26th we will have a road trip to Chaddock. We’ll eat in the gym. For those of you not familiar with the facility, we will have a drawing showing parking and where the gym is on the website by the end of the week (or as soon as I can scan and send to web guru Courtney Hageman)… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
