Please join us Friday as we host to the 2009 All-American Kids Awards program sponsored by the Quincy Society of Fine Arts. The QSFA will be presenting three awards: one in Arts/Humanities; one in Natural Science and/or Mathematical Studies; and one in Sports.

FRIDAY LAST
It was good to have Ted Awerkamp and Dan Cook with us to talk about the current banking situation in America. Dan called it a “transformational time” and told us the industry should be stronger when all is said and done. Ted told us that only 5% of all banks have accepted any bail-out money. Both expressed frustration in the situation but were confident that we will weather the storm. Good stuff on an important current event. President Art Awerkamp with the introduction.

YOUTH OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to QHS senior Erin Sieck for being named our final Youth of the Month. Erin is ranked #2 in her class of 581 students and carries a 4.4 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). She is involved in a number of extracurricular activities including the Beta Club, Spanish Club, church youth group, tennis team, and softball team. Erin will be traveling to Honduras next month as part of a mission to treat eye diseases and vision problems. She will be continuing her education at either Northwestern or the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Dr. Eric and Debbie Sieck are the proud parents. QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Where the he!! are my tickets?” Skip Rueter’s comment as the wining 50/50 number was called. After a brief disappearance, Skip returned with his tickets and subsequent winner in hand. Skip found the tickets at the bar - where he had enjoyed a few moments prior to the meeting. Ah, the joy of retirement! Skip, you my friend, are priceless!

THIS & THAT
Congratulations to Bill and Brenda Stalder on the birth of their son, Quinn Hobart, on Monday morning, March 9th. Quinn, Mom, big brother, J.D., big sister, Meg, and Dad are all good. What a joyous time for the Stalder clan… Jared Haugh with the prayer and Chuck Venvertloh leading the pledge… Francis Richmond the guest of his father-in-law, Frank Hays. That would make him the brother-in-law of one Bob Hays… Good to see a few Exchangites we hadn’t seen in a while – Jim Schlepphorst, Jamie Fisher, and of course, Ted Awerkamp… The date and location of the New Member Social has been set for Wednesday, March 18th at Barneys – after work, say 5:00ish. All members are welcome… 1st Reading on Andy Blaesing sponsored by Tim Muehring… Mel Dillman’s birthday last Friday so his family sent cake. Thanks for the treat, Dillman ladies… Slate of officers to be printed next week – I say again this week… Please note we have scheduled the Flag Day Concert (by the Quincy Park Band) and our Family Picnic for Wednesday, June 17th. As is tradition, we’ll be at Madison Park… As mentioned earlier, Skip Rueter won the 50/50 but he picked the wrong card (five of diamonds). Pot grows… Jared Haugh expediently twisting tails… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.

Youth of the Month. QHS Principal Terry Ellerman, Debbie and Erin Sieck, QHS Counselor Sondra Snyder, and Mike Llewellyn. (Erin’s dad, Dr. Eric, slipped out of the meeting before the picture.)
