SURF ‘N TURF THIS THURSDAY
Cedar Crest Country Club this Thursday (2/11) night. 5:30 p.m. for appetizers and drinks; meal at 6:15 p.m. Eat, drink, and be merry – but please have a designated driver plan before you get there.
THIS FRIDAY
Mayor John Spring will deliver the first “State of the City” of his second term and his fifth such address overall. Tough economic times abound but still plenty to talk about within and immediately outside city limits. Please join us as we welcome a fellow Exchangite to the podium. This is obviously one of the staple programs of the year. Plus, we’ll recognize another Youth of the Month. (A little clue on who our recipient is – his father is a past Macker Chairman and will be our president in a couple years…)
FRIDAY LAST
Good to have Hall of Famer Rick Hummel with us for the “Hot Stove” report. Rick shared his comments on a number of topic including “the 260 pound gorilla in the room” - Mark McGwire and the steroids issue. Great to have an inside look at the Hall of Fame voting process and other pertinent sporting news. Outstanding turn out for an outstanding program. We sincerely appreciate Rick making the commitment to do this each year. We also thank Program Chairman Gary Peters, who did the introduction (after a little stand-up routine), for coordinating the event each year.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“That was the bullshit detector.” Program Director Gary Peters comment that followed a high pitched squelching noise that overtook the room just as Surf ‘N Turf Chairman Jared Haugh finished his report on the upcoming social.
THIS & THAT
Rich Zeidler did a nice job with the prayer but struggled with the Cub/Cardinal part of it. Vic Welper had no struggles leading the pledge… About a dozen guests last week. Rick Hummel’s visit is always a popular one… Second reading on Travis Brown sponsored by John Johannes. Get his check and bring him in… President Kevin Curran thanking First Vice President Kent Anderson for filling in for him the previous Friday… President Kevin and Gus Macker Chairman Doug Greenwell in Lancaster, OH, the previous Friday for a Macker Convention… Outstanding Macker report given by Doug Greenwell. Doug reminded us that this may be the 20th year we have done Macker, and many may be tired of it, but it is till our #1 fundraiser and community event. WE, not just Doug and President Kevin, are looking for a Co-Chairman for this year and next… Kirk Frageman won the 50/50 but drew the wrong card (eight of diamonds I believe). Pot grows. Should be over $500 this week. Jared Haugh quickly twisted tails… I have learned the difference between roll and row. I think I have it now… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
