THURSDAY/FRIDAY LAST

There of course was no meeting on Friday, January 1st, but a day earlier we held our Holiday Club Party at the Quincy Boat Club. A great turn out and a great meal marked the event. Jeff Dorsey did “The News” and Fred Lauder recited (from memory) the adult version of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. A good time was had by all. Thanks go to Steve Peters and David Grimm for manning the bar, Sonny Christner and Skip Rueter for preparing the soup, and to Jimmie Louthen and his crew for the great seafood boil.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“Let us have a moment of silence to remember those Exchangites whom we lost in 2009.” Mel Dillman with the appropriate request .

THIS & THAT

Didn’t start taking notes until late it the program and forgot who gave the prayer and who led the pledge. I do remember that President Kevin Curran was out of town so First Vice President Kent Anderson filled in… A fantastic turn out for the rare Thursday meeting. I was worried, but over 50 Exchangites attended… “The News” and “Twas the Night Before Christmas” both dedicated to the memory of our good friend John Tripp – who customarily did both at the final meeting of the year… By the way, hats off to Jeff Dorsey on “The News”. Best job he has ever done! John Tripp looking down and had to be pleased with the results – then he probably mumbled something like, “Time to check the traps again, Dorsey”… Please keep Max Johnson in your prayers as he prepares to have double knee replacement surgery on January 13th… President Kevin and Gus Macker Chairman Doug Greenwell heading to a Gus Macker Convention in Columbus Ohio on January 28th/29th to speak about recruiting Gus Busters. Do us proud, boys… Our condolences to the family and friends of Russ Fisher who passed away at the age of 73 on December 21st. Unbeknownst to me, Russ was a former Exchangite… Mark Aleman joins the ranks of former Exchangites as he has resigned from the club. We wish you the best, Mark… Two 50/50 drawings last week but neither resulted in a winner. Pot grows. Lonny Lemon had the right ticket but drew the queen of diamonds and then Rick Goughnour had the right ticket but he also picked the queen of diamonds. (Just kidding, it was the jack of clubs)… Pot should be near $350 when we resume… Happy New Year, men… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
