THIS FRIDAY
We’ll welcome Friends of the Trail President Greg Davis and Jennifer Sousa, the Community and Economic Coordinator for the University of Illinois Extension. The two will speak to us about the mission/goals/objectives of the Friends of the Trail. You can learn more about the subject prior to Friday by visiting their website at www.friendsofthetrail.org.

Nice to have Lanse Tomlinson with us to learn about the Good Samaritan Home. CLUB CHRISTMAS PARTY
There will be no meetings (obviously) on December 25th or January 1st. However, we are conducting a rare THURSDAY meeting on New Year’s Eve – NOON at the Quincy Boat Club. Jimmie Louthen will be serving up a meal like no other – shrimp, crawfish, catfish, Polish Kielbasa, corn on the cob, red potatoes, and anything else he can throw in the boiler. (For those of you not a fan of such fare, we’ll have chili, clam chowder, and perhaps another option.) Still working on entertainment but I promise more than one good laugh during the event. Here is the plan… Work a few hours in the morning and then spend a couple hours with us at lunch – I guarantee you’ll be in great shape to bring in 2010!
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“It was December 5, 1933, that Prohibition was repealed.” Program Director Gary Peters supplementing the birthday and anniversary announcements with this important tidbit of information. Cheers and thunderous applause followed…
THIS & THAT
Carlos Fernandez with the prayer and Steve Wellman leading the pledge. I believe this was the first time Carlos filled the chaplain position. Nice job, Carlos… First Vice President Kent Anderson filling in for an absent President Kevin Curran… First VP Kent reading a nice thank you letter from ninth grade TAG Teacher Lisa (wife of Rick) Goughnour for their November 13th visit… No guests… Several afternoon shifts still open for the January 2nd Special Olympics Basketball Tournament. This Friday may be your last opportunity to sign up. Please do so… By my count, only six men joined our little club in 2009 (with one reinstatement). Perhaps we all need to consider asking one or two men to join us in 2010… Dave Poland collecting for the waitress gift… Charlie Ledbetter giving us a recap of the GIVEAKIDACHANCE Christmas Party on December 4th. 114 served during the meal. Good work, Charlie and crew… Steve Peters, in the absence of Tim Wiewel, telling us how well the Spousal Christmas Party went on December 10th. Our thanks to Tim and his crew who made it possible… Doug Reed won the 50/50 but picked the wrong card (six of spades) so the pot grows. If I am not mistaken, the post has surpassed $300… Jared Haugh twisting tails with help from Immediate Past President Art Awerkamp… We will have an Exchangite next week… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
