THIS FRIDAY

We’ll welcome Julie Herring, an Employment Specialist with Two Rivers Regional Council of Public Officials. Julie will tell us about a special program Two Rivers provides entitled “Working Today, Changing Tomorrow”. The program addresses the need to employee people with disabilities. She’ll also provide a few interesting facts about the subject. Plus, President Kevin Curran will undoubtedly tell us about the goings-on at the October Board Meeting conducted this past Monday.

FRIDAY LAST

Good the have the 25th President of Culver-Stockton College (and 1970 graduate), Richard Valentine, with us. President Valentine pointed out that 74 Adams County citizens currently attend Culver-Stockton and that over 2,700 alumni live in the county. President Valentine spoke in detail about the new Culver initiative – EXP@C-SC. Through the program the college offers students a 12 week semester followed by a three week experiential semester. Interesting concept. (Read more if you are interested at www.culver.edu/academics/exp-csc.asp.) Yours truly with the introduction.

THIS & THAT

Rev. Ron Fritts with the prayer and Dave Rees leading the pledge… David Grimm’s brother and “partner in crime”, Dennis, a guest… Welcome back Sheriff Brent Fisher. Brent made his first trek to our new digs... Our condolences to Kevin O’Donnell and his family on the death of Kevin’s mother, Dee, at the age of 78 on October 6th and the Mike Benedetto and his family on the death of Mike’s mother, Marian, at the age of 94 on October 7th. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of you. Condolences go out to Art Awerkamp as well on the death of his cousin, John Powell. Not sure of John’s age but I know he was way too young… President Kevin telling up about thank you notes from the Veterans Day Committee (for a donation to the event and our upcoming participation – 11/7), the Blessing Foundation (for a donation to the SLICE tournament), and from Claire Obert (Youth of the Month)… A few Culver-Stockton alumni on hand for President Valentine’s visit and to his surprise, one of his former players. Apparently a much younger President Valentine was the seventh grade coach for Mendon Junior High School and Doug Greenwell was one of his star players… My proof reading is not always the best but it was especially horrendous last week. Among the several mistakes was Steve Greenwell – my apology to both DOUG Greenwell and Steve GREEN. At least the Exchangite was printed last week… Steve Peters won the 50/50 but picked the wrong card (queen of spades). Interestingly enough, the last three numbers on Jeff “Big Dog” Dorsey’s ticket were 666... Speaking of the Big Dog, he did a masterful job of twisting tails (with help from Sonny Christner). Good thing as a chunk of our widows and orphans fund disappeared after another successful Fall Brawl… Thank you, Mel Dillman and all the good men who helped Mel with the Fall Brawl. The food was most excellent and the company even better... If you are interested in participating in Quanada’s “100 Men Project”, see ABVI Manager Dave Ripper this Friday or contact Kristin Benz (222-8440 ext 135 or kbenz@co.adams.il.us)... Man, the Cards were BRUTAL in their short post-season run... That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
