THIS FRIDAY

Our speaker will be Wendy Bockhold, a Probation Officer with the Adams County Probation Office. Wendy will join us to discuss the work she and her fellow probation officers do such as supervising those offenders on probation, the new Evidence Based Practice initiative, and how recent new trainings has brought practices in Adams County Courts to a very efficient and accomplished level. Judge Mark Schuering, who will do the introduction, says this about our Probation Office, “They are genuinely one of the most respected probation departments in the state of Illinois.” Join us Friday to learn more.

FRIDAY LAST

Always a pleasure to have Matt Schulte with us. As most of you know the story by now, Matt started making wine back in the ‘70’s in his basement with a homebrew kit. This year, his Spirit Knob Winery produced 7,000 gallons of 14 different wines! He turned his hobby into a full-time business. Matt was with us to preview an event he helped start - The Grape Escape. The Grape Escape was held over the weekend at Clat Adams Park on Quincy’s Riverfront. The weather held out for a great event. Program Director Gary Peters with a little stand-up comedy and then the introduction.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“You look up to him?” Gary Peters quick quip after Youth of the Month recipient Claire Obert told us how much she looks up to QND Principal Ray Heilmann. Another short-persons joke directed toward Principal Heilmann. Poor fellow. Ray would will be the first to tell you he is 5’7’ but jumps like he is 5’9”. One more quote I couldn’t pass on… “You drink yours the way you want and I’ll drink mine the way I want.” Skip Reuter’s response to someone suggesting you weren’t supposed to drink bottles of wine like you would bottles of beer. It has been awhile since we had a Skippy quote but he’s back!

THIS & THAT

The above mentioned Ray Heilmann earning his meal by providing the prayer. Max Johnson was asked to lead the pledge but an impatient Mike Lavery started without him… President Kevin Curran told us about a thank you from the Salvation Army. Don’t know what we did for them but I’m sure it was really, really good… President Kevin also thanked Immediate Past District President Dennis Koch for his work on the Club Directory. They look great, Dennis! The rest of us thank you as well… There is a Gus Macker meeting tonight (for those of you reading the Exchangite on Tuesday, 9/29)… There are some Exchange Club meetings where I could literally pick from about a dozen lines for Quote of the Week. Last week’s raucous meeting offered more and faster than I could write… Jared Haugh twisted tails and as always made me laugh… Rich Zeidler won the 50/50 but picked the wrong card (nine of spades). Pot should start growing soon enough but it is at $200 for now… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
