THIS FRIDAY
We’ll welcome one of the Friye boys (either Todd or Travis) from Bergman Nurseries to discuss seasonal lawn care and a few other related items. We all want that picture perfect yard but few of us have the time or perhaps more importantly, the knowledge to make it happen. Join us Friday to gain a little of that knowledge from a family business that knows what they are talking about.
FRIDAY LAST
A very comprehensive economic and market overview by John Puricelli, Senior Portfolio Manager for First Bank Wealth Management. Interesting stuff and So much information – it was one of those presentations you could listen to several times over just to catch and understand it all. We appreciate John sharing his expertise. John Johannes with a fine introduction. Darlene Ward and Troy McNay from First Bank with us as well. Good program.

SMOKE ON THE RIVER
32 teams signed up for Smoke on the River as of Tuesday morning! Gentlemen, it is going to be a GREAT event and we want you to be a part of it. If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for a task. Sign-up sheets have been out for the past several weeks and will be out again this Friday. Plenty of opportunities for you to help between the set up on Thursday evening and the two days following. Please call Chairman Mel Dillman if you haven’t already taken a shift. AT A MINIMUM, please sell the raffle tickets assigned to you. This Friday, we’ll have a flyer on all the tables that breaks down the event – something you can share with your family members, friends, and co-workers. All members invited to the committee meeting this Thursday – 5:30 p.m. at The Dock.
CHARACTER CHAMPIONS
Volunteers are needed on Sunday, September 13th at 7:00 p.m. to stuff bags in preparation for the September 15th event. The activity will take place at Kirk Frageman’s home. Please see Kirk if you are available/interested in helping. If nothing else, it is a chance to check out Kirk’s home and see how the other half lives… Help will also be needed on the 15th with registration and to pass out the bags to the student athletes as they enter.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“We have a straight truck for the tent.” Smoke on the River Chairman Mel Dillman made that comment while making the request for set-up help on the Thursday evening prior to Smoke on the River. Many Exchangites still confused. A straight truck as opposed to a crooked or homosexual one? Please clarify, Mel.
THIS & THAT
Jim Benz with the prayer and Vic Welper leading the pledge... Welcome back Bill Barry. Bill is looking and doing good after a couple brief stays in the hospital. Bill’s grandson, Andy Wemhoener a guest… President Kevin Curran and all Exchangites congratulate Coach Bill Terlisner and his Quincy University Hawk Football Team on their big win at Indiana State. Coach Bill and Culver-Stockton Football Coach Christian Guenther will provide a portion of our program when we hit the road September 11th… President Kevin presenting our newest Man of Action, Jonathan Tuttle with his certificate and pins from National… President Kevin also reported a nice gesture by Kent Anderson’s son, Matt, the previous week. After the program on Honor Flights, unsolicited and unbeknownst to many, Matt made the first contribution to the Honor Flights program. He is a classy kid. With young men and women like Matt serving in our Armed Forces, we should all be thankful – and sleep well. We salute you, Matt Anderson… Please keep former Exchangite John Potts Sr. in your thoughts and prayers as John was recently diagnosed with lung cancer. We wish him and wife, Ardath, nothing but the best… Be patient with me, men. Eventually I will learn to write PROSECTIVE member instead of PERSPECTIVE member… I think this Exchangite will be the last printed version you will receive if you opted out of the mailing… 1st Vice President Kent Anderson conducting the Ace of Spades 50/50 Drawing. Skip Reuter won the 50/50 but picked the wrong card (jack of spades). The pot will hang around $200 for a few weeks before taking off. Bruce Broemmel twisting tails. Bruce forgot the table I was sitting at but Mike Lavery was dying to give his $1 away so he sold us out… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
