THIS FRIDAY
We’ll welcome Travis Brown to the podium. Travis is the new Executive Director of the Historic Quincy Business District. This is what the HQBD website says, “The Historic Quincy Business District is a non-profit organization with the mission of promoting, revitalizing and preserving Quincy’s Historic Business District through broad-based community support, including both public and private partnerships.” See you Friday at ABVI - in the Historic Quincy Business District.
FRIDAY LAST
Barb Hicks, Executive Director of the Madonna House, was the speaker for our first meeting at America’s Best Value Inn. Barb, along with Madonna House Clinical Director, Cindy Grawe, told us about the mission of the facility and answered several good questions. Madonna House board member, Doug Greenwell with the introduction.
ABVI & J.J.’S CATERING
We are off to a good start at ABVI but House Chairman Mel Dillman requests your patience and invites your feedback. If you have a suggestion on how to improve our new meeting place, please see Mel. If you have a complaint, see Mel about that as well. Oh yeah, and good luck with that!
50/50 ACE OF SPADES
It hurts to write this but congratulations to Rich Howell, John Balance, Mike Disseler, Daron Duke, Mike Smith, Charlie Ledbetter, and Rich Lavery – these seven split $1,071 after Daron drew the treasured ace of spades on behalf of his table. Good for you. No, really, good for you.
OPT OUT OF PRINTED EXCHANGITE
Starting next week you will be able to “opt out” of the Exchangite newsletter mailing list. Instead, you will get an e-mail with the newsletter within or a link to it. This will allow you to get the Exchangite earlier and help us save money. Sign-up sheets will be placed on all tables. We’ll simply need your name and correct e-mail address. In case you forgot or didn’t know, our website address is www.quincyexchangeclub.org – catch the current and past Exchangites there – along wither other good stuff.

SMOKE ON THE RIVER
Six weeks to Smoke on the River - two things you can do to help ensure a successful event… Sell the purple raffle tickets ($5 each or three for $10.00) and keep your eyes and ears open for a new sponsor. Due to cut backs by our previous sponsors, we are down $2,750. As always, all Exchangites are invited to attend the weekly committee meetings – 5:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings at The Dock.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“We have a winner!” 1st Vice President Kent Anderson’s reaction after Daron Duke picked the right card and won $1,071 for his table – much to the chagrin of all other Exchangites!
THIS & THAT
Jared Haugh with a very nice prayer and Mark Aleman with the pledge. I think I have been an Exchangite for about 19 years and it was the first time I ever saw Mark Aleman sit down and enjoy the program with us… Speaking of Mark, Glen Swick was his guest on the day… Nice welcome to ABVI in by General Manager Dave Ripper… My apology to Dave Rees for incorrectly typing his name as Reese in last week’s Exchangite. I know the difference but didn’t catch it upon the proof. Yes, I do proof before sending it to the printer… President Kevin Curran doing what I believe was a 1st Reading on Jonathan Tuttle sponsored by Dave Rees (with no E at the end)… A short Exchangite this week. As I write, it is the Friday afternoon before I start vacation - having a hard time keeping focused. Go ahead and insert your favorite state employee joke here… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
PHOTO OF THE WEEK
About 60 Exchangites attended our inaugural meeting at the ABVI’s Ball Room. Here are a few of them…
