FAMILY PICNIC TONIGHT (6/17)
Hope to see you and your family at the Madison Park Shelter tonight at 5:30 p.m. for the fourth annual Family Picnic & Flag Day Concert. Should be a great evening.
THIS FRIDAY
We’ll welcome the interim director of the Quincy Public Library, Nancy Dolan. If you haven’t visited a library lately (or ever, for some of you Exchangites), you’ll find that libraries offer much more than books, newspapers, and magazines. Audio and video CDs/DVDs and internet access are huge parts of the mix these days. Bring a guest and learn more about the great services our local library has to offer you and your family.
FRIDAY LAST
Richard Heinie from Heinie Specialty Products gave us an interesting program on the products he offers – worldwide. His main clientele include law enforcement, military, and competition shooters. The knowledge he has about pistol modifications and sights is impressive to say the least. Among the many products he offers are three registered trademarks. Joining us for the day was Richard’s pretty assistant, Sara Davis.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“Oh, Darn!” The insincere reaction of club members to Elvin Townsend pulling a card other than the Ace of Spades. All thinking their big chance awaits next week. Well, good luck with that!
THIS & THAT
Jim Benz with a very nice prayer and the newest Man of Action, Joel Koch, leading the pledge. Joel one of three Kochs (Dennis and Brian the others) in the gathering. What is the limit anyway… Gun enthusiast Rick Hammond the guest of Jim Schlepphorst and Rob Copley with the $200 meal… Speaking of meals, the Quincy Exchange Club will be picking up the tab for the lunch associated with the Special Olympics Torch Run… District President Dennis Koch tells us that the club now has 50c3 status. The next goal is to become tax exempt which would save us a good chunk of change – which we could then use to help more in our community. It is all good… Congratulations to First Vice President Kevin Curran on a successful planning meeting. Looks like Kevin is ready to lead (if anyone can be) this incorrigible group… President Art Awerkamp presenting the above mentioned Joel Koch with his pin and certificate from National – that is record time. President Art also telling us about thank you notes from the Quincy Police Department (Torch Run meal) and the Quincy High School Coral Program ($500 in memory of John Tripp)… Nice write up on Max Johnson at all the tables. Congratulations, Maxie… Remember no meeting on July 3rd and we will have a family night at the Gems game on Tuesday, July 21st… Elvin Townsend won the 50/50 but picked the wrong card (nine of spades). Pot will be over $800 this week. Wow… Your humble editor twisting tails and sharing a scary story from a recent Smoke on the River committee meeting… Another impressive list of anniversaries this week – 48th, 26th, 26th, 15th, 16th, 39th, 22nd, 52nd, 7th, and 30th. Wow… 1.5 meetings left in the President Awerkamp Administration. No one happier than Art… Next week I will expand upon a plan to cut our mailing list... That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
