NO MEETING THIS FRIDAY
The statement credited to the first Exchangite Editor, Paul Clarkson and respectfully continued by the second Exchangite Editor, John Trip: In lieu of an Exchange Club meeting, “We’ll see you in church.”
FRIDAY LAST
A mixed bag. We started things off by recognizing our five Gus Macker Major Sponsors. They are Titan Wheel joining us for their 2nd year; Quincy Herald-Whig for their 5th year; KHQA-TV for their 5th year; County Market for their 8th year; and Refreshment Services Pepsi for their 18th year. Co-Chairman Steve Green told us the applications were printed and mailed early last week and the first ad on the tournament was published in the Whig this past weekend. Steve also noted that because he and another “Green”, Doug Greenwell, are co-chairing, the 2009 tournament will be “GREEN” – as in an increased effort to recycle. Good stuff. Now we need to hit the court sponsorships hard! It’ll be here before you know it, men.
After the Macker portion of the program, Adams County Sheriff Brent Fischer introduced Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White to the podium. Secretary White was in town promoting April as Organ/Tissue Donor month. (Which we should all do because as he noted, “Life Goes On.”) The Secretary of State’s office covers a wide variety of responsibilities and it was an honor to have Secretary White with us. If you didn’t skip to it already, read his quote under Quote of the Week. Too funny!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK
“You’ll need a flash for the brother.” Secretary of State Jesse White’s comment to me just before I took the photo you see below. (As President Art Awerkamp and Sheriff Brent Fischer as my witnesses!) I like this guy.
THIS & THAT
Dr. Len Biallas back in the States and leading the prayer. Mike Llewellyn with the pledge… Congratulations to three of our own who were victorious on election day. Mayor John Spring won another four years while Dan Brink and Kyle Moore will join Mayor Spring at the city council meetings as alderman… Sonny Christner won the 50/50 but picked the wild card and then the wrong card (four of spades). Pot grows! Should be over the $600 mark when we resume meetings on 4/17… I’ll write more next week – yes, there will be a damn bulletin… And yes, it was late this week… GO CARDS… Remember, NO MEETING this Friday. Enjoy the time spent with family. Happy Easter, men… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
