THIS FRIDAY:
It is Hot Stove Friday this week as we welcome back Baseball Hall of Famer and Quincy native, Rick Hummel. Undoubtedly, one of the most popular programs of the year, and for good reason. Please join us as we get Rick’s take on the Cardinals, Cubs, Rams, Blues, and anything else sports related you might want to ask him. Again, if you plan on bringing a guest, probably a good idea to let house chairman Mel Dillman know – ASAP - so that we have plenty of food and seats. See you Friday!

FRIDAY LAST:
We kicked the weekend off with a little Super Bowl fun of our own. First, we invited four coaches/alumni to give us their Super Bowl XLIII picks with the winner to receive $100 for the program they represented. This is who they were and what they predicted:

Bill Terlisner (QU) – Steelers 31-14
Ric Hinkamper (C-SC) – Cardinals 27-24
Brent Fischer (QND) – Steelers 28-14
Rick Little (QHS) - Cardinals 28-17

Final score was Steelers 27-23. Coach Terlisner and Coach Brent Fischer obviously picked the winner but since Coach Brent’s score was closer to the final than Coach Terlisner’s guess, we’ll crown him winner and will donate $100 to the QND football program. In addition, each table competed against each other in a Super Bowl trivia. The table of Jared Haugh, Frank Hays, Bob Hays, Mike Smith, Eric Thomas, and Chris Parker won that competition and received an extra dessert of ice cream. (Funny how Chris Parker tallied the score and conveniently, his table won...) The third and final part of our day was the presentation of $204 to Coach Bill Terlisner for the Dustin Keeven benefit. Our thanks to all the participants and to the Program Chairman Gary Peters for his creativity.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“Hey, we get one of those?” Ric Hinkamper’s reply after watching President Art Awerkamp present Dr. Tom Klincar with his certificate from national. Ric, of course, is one of three members who I recently found out were not receiving a copy of the weekly Exchangite. He is now getting his Exchangite, someone else will have to find his certificate…

WEB SITE:
FINAL CALL - The Exchange Club of Quincy is currently seeking (one year) bids to maintain and build upon our club website (www.quincyexchangeclub.org). I believe this issue will be addressed and resolved at the 2/9 board meeting so let President Art know before then if you are interested.

THIS & THAT:
Jared Haugh with the prayer and Bob Hays leading the pledge… Hal Broadwater the guest of Kevin O’Donnell, Andy Blaesing the guest of Tim Muehring, and Ray Hinkamper the guest of son, Ric… President Art thanking Bill Awerkamp for repairing the crown for one of our tents frames… President Art also thanking District President Dennis Koch for his work on the Exchange Club sign as you enter Quincy city limits (forgot which entry). More on this one after I get a few more details from Dennis… Good to see Dale Venvertloh among us again… President Art thanked Jared Haugh and Tim Wiewel and their team for a great Surf ‘n Turf last week. Always a great STAG… Now word comes the Tim Muehring has not been getting a bulletin. Great… Bruce Broemmel twisting tails with the help of Sonny Christner… Chuck Venvertloh won the 50/50 but picked the wrong card (three of diamonds). Only 37 cards left and the pot is nearly $450. Getting interesting again… That's all for now, 'til next time, may God’s love, grace, and peace be with you and the ones you love.
